Here are the best round dining room tables.

Best Overall:Pottery Barn Toscana Round Extending Dining Table

Toscana Round Extending Dining Table

The Pottery Barn Toscana Round Extending Dining Table is our favorite round dining table because the rustic design is simple, elegant, and durable. Its expandability is ideal for entertaining, and the solid wood build makes this a long-lasting statement piece for your home.

The hardiness of this dining table comes from the kiln-dried Sungkai wood and veneers. This reliable construction protects the finish from cracking. It also prevents the table from warping, mildew, and splitting, ensuring you’ll be able to use this table for years.

This little table measures 30 inches tall, has a 54-inch diameter, and perfectly fits four diners. If you’re gathering with more people, you can use the leaf to extend the table into a 72-inch oval. There are also adjustable levelers to accommodate uneven flooring. Though more expensive than some of the other options on our list, the price matches the value.

Best Budget:East West Furniture Dublin Round Dining Table

East West Furniture Dublin Round Dining Table

If you’re on a budget, don’t overlook this East West Furniture Dublin Round Dining Table. At 42 inches wide, it’s the perfect petite four-person table for a kitchen nook or small dining area. This round table is made of manufactured wood that’s still sturdy enough to withstand the average wears of a kitchen table. We also appreciate the heavy-duty hardware used to mount the drop leaves.

This table is available in over 20 of finishes, so you can be sure to find one that matches your home’s aesthetic. The assembly instructions listed in the product description look relatively easy to follow, however we recommend having a second person nearby to hold the pedestal in place while you secure it to the top. If you do choose to pay for expert assembly, keep in mind that it almost doubles your overall cost.

Best Large:AllModern Boarer Dining Table

Boarer Dining Table

Whether you have a large family or just like hosting dinner parties, it never hurts to have enough room for everyone to gather around the table. Plus if you have the space, AllModern’s Boardway Dining Table is a chic, yet timeless option. At nearly 6 feet long, this round table is larger than most on the market, so there’s more than enough room for everyone.

Designed with a mid-century modern touch, this table comfortably seats up to six people in a banquet arrangement. Although it doesn’t include any matching chairs, it’s offered in a variety of wood finishes, so you can coordinate it with all types of dining chairs.

Best Modern:Rove Concepts Winston Dining Table, 48″

Rove Concepts Winston Table

The Rove Concepts Winston Dining Table is a sophisticated dining table that balances mid-century modern style and contemporary minimalism. We love how it also has a hint of Scandinavian design to it with a clean, wide top. Measuring 48 inches in diameter, this table is large enough to seat 4 people comfortably, plus fit plenty of serving platters in the center.

You can choose between two different surface finishes: a high gloss white lacquer with clear glass top, or a white marble surface ($200 extra). The lacquer and glass top will easily resist staining, so you don’t have to worry about kiddos making a mess. We do recommend using hot plates to buffer between dishes that have come right out of the oven. Although we love the dark Walnut finish of this table’s base, we recognize that it may not be everyone’s preferred color palette.

Best Expandable:Pottery Barn Hart Round Reclaimed Wood Pedestal Extending Dining Table

Hart Round Dining Table

If you’re in the market for a more versatile option, consider Pottery Barn’s Hart Round Reclaimed Wood Pedestal Extending Dining Table. Made of reclaimed, kiln-dried pine wood with natural variations throughout the material, this table balances farmhouse charm with clean lines and a contemporary appeal.

This pedestal-style table comes in two sizes, where both can be extended into an oval with additional leaves. It’s also available in three finishes—Black Olive, Driftwood and Limestone White, or Ink and Limestone White— each of which would complement any existing furniture and decor you already have.

Best Set:Charlton Home Adda 4-Person Dining Set

Charlton Home Adda 5 Piece Dining Set

If you’re looking for a one-and-done purchase, we recommend the Charlton Home Adda Dining Set. This five-piece set includes a round pedestal table and four matching chairs, so it’s ready for full use upon arrival. Assembly is required, but based on the instruction manual listed online, it is relatively easy to put together with help. All the tools you need for assembly are also included.

Made of solid wood with a glossy finish, this set is ideal for smaller apartments or breakfast nooks. It’s offered in off-white or sleek black, each of which leaves plenty of room to be accessorized with table linens and decor. This table is not stain resistant, so we recommend using coasters and placemats for beverages and hot dishes.

Best Glass:CosmoLiving Westwood Clear Tempered Glass Dining Table

CosmoLiving Westwood Clear Tempered Glass Dining Ta

With its transparent top and hourglass base, CosmoLiving’s Westwood Dining Table is undeniably chic. The circular top is made of tempered glass and measures 42 inches in diameter, making it a great option for 4-person living arrangements. We also love the design of the birdcage-inspired pedestal, plus it’s crafted from durable metal.

This relatively compact table is great for furnishing a contemporary kitchen nook or a stylish apartment. Finding seating that matches this table may be challenging because of its distinct style. However, we love the distinct style that instantly elevates an eating area.

Best Wood:Baxton Studio Monte 47-Inch Round Dining Table

Baxton Studio Monte 47-Inch Round Dining Table

Those partial to wooden dining room furniture will love the Baxton Studio Monte Table, a retro-inspired piece featuring solid rubberwood cluster legs with a slight flare and a walnut veneer top. This table would be a great option for families with young children or rambunctious pets because the flared legs provide a sturdy, less likely to tip base. This table is available in other finishes, such as a dark brown, but you have to navigate through the seller page to access them.

Its top measures 47 inches in diameter, so you’ll be able to comfortably seat at least four people, making it great for mealtime. Keep in mind the delivery time can vary for this table, depending on the demand for certain finishes.

Best Marble:Orren Ellis Krokowski Pedestal Dining Table

Krokowski Pedestal Dining Table

For a more upscale look, you can’t go wrong with the Orren Ellis Krokowski Pedestal Dining Table. Made of metal, the white design and marble surface on top will add a sense of sophistication to any dining room. Plus, it doesn’t require any assembly when it arrives at your home.

This table is 36-inches wide and can seat up to three people comfortably. It’s also available in 43- and 48-inch circumferences, so you can seat even more people. While it’s certainly a bit of a splurge, the minimal design will blend effortlessly into any dining room, whether it be a modern aesthetic or contemporary feel.

What to Look for in a Round Dining Table

Type

Like all dining room tables, round tables come in various styles and configurations, including ovals and expandable options with leaves. Aside from traditional designs with four legs, there are pedestal, trestle, cluster, and tulip base options. A favorite of Decorist designer Casey Hardin, tulip-style tables offer “versatility in a range of different design styles.”

Size

When shopping for a dining table, be sure to consider the size. On the one hand, circular designs often take up less space than their rectangular counterparts. But on the other hand, they tend to be smaller.

Most round dining tables are between 40 to 50 inches in diameter, which is typically enough space to accommodate four people. However, you can find larger options measuring roughly 60 inches wide that can seat about six. But to fit eight or more people comfortably, you’ll most likely need to get an oval table, which will give you a bit more length. And before buying any table, be sure to measure your space.

Material

You’ll also want to consider the material. Durable, long-lasting dining tables are typically made of solid wood—extra points if it’s kiln-dried. However, you can find lots of great options made from a combination of manufactured and solid lumber.

All that said, marble or tempered glass tops can be really striking, especially on round tables. But if you opt for a material other than wood, we recommend looking for one with a stainless steel or otherwise durable metal base.
